The 5th Annual Believe in the Magic of Santa

The Kathleen M. Rotz Lung Cancer Research Fund maintains, as its primary goal, fundraising efforts to support the development of translational research initiatives for immunotherapy in the use of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells to treat advanced lung cancer at the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center under the direction of Dr. Steven Albelda. With the great support of our sponsors, donors and event participants, we have made great strides toward that goal, yet, we do not want to lose sight of those that we are venturing to aid.

Like Kathy, there are many patients hoping for a cure to their affliction. We all look forward to arriving at the cure. However, between now and then, these patients struggle daily. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, at this joyous time of the year, we turn our attention to helping these individuals.

Last year we were able to make dreams come true for 13 families of cancer patients at the Abramson Cancer Centers' Penn Presbyterian Hospital through the generous outpouring of many individual and family contributors. We want to make their holiday a joyous one and to Believe in the Magic of Santa.

How To Get Started

If you or your employer annually give to a charitable organization, please consider joining us for this year's event. We support the cancer patients at Penn's Abramson Cancer Center through two programs. You can Adopt A Family or provide Gift Card Assistance.

Adopt A Family - the donor will be provided a wish list of gifts by the family of a patient. Once the donor has fulfilled the wish list, kindly drop the gifts off at 220 Pennsylvania Ave, Oreland, PA by December 19th, 2020 or if you require your gifts to be picked up, we will make arrangements to pick up from you by December 19th, 2020. To start the process, please e-mail us and we will provide you with a patients wish list.

Gift Card Assistance - as further explained in the letter below, the Gift Card Assistance Program provides patients with many of the essential needs via their card: transportation, companion or babysitting services and/or medications are just a few examples. If you are interested in this program, please see the list of suggested gift cards in the letter below and such gift cards should be mailed or dropped off at 220 Pennsylvania Ave Oreland, PA by December 19th, 2020 for delivery, or can be mailed directly to Kayla Hilliard at the address listed in the letter below.

All gifts will be delivered for distribution to the patients at Penn's Abramson Cancer Center on December 22nd, 2020.

Many thanks for your consideration, we greatly appreciate your support at this special time of year!
